Protocols and Precautions Related to COVID


**For 2022, please read through the following precautions we are taking related to COVID-19**

STATEMENT ABOUT SYMPTOMS PRIOR TO RACE: 

Have you experienced any of the following symptoms during the week prior to the race?

Fever (100F/38C) or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath of difficulty breathing
Abnormal fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea or gastrointestinal discomfort

During the 10 days prior to race start, have you been in close contact with anyone who tested positive for or exhibited symptoms of COVID-19? (Close contact means being within 6 feet for a cumulative time of 15 minutes or more within 24-hour period).

If you answer yes to either of the above questions and cannot show proof of a negative test result taken within 72 hours, then please stay home.

MASK STATEMENT: All participants and spectators/support personnel are required to have masks and wear them at the start/finish area and at checkpoints when 6 feet social distance cannot be maintained.

START: There will be a staggered start, with waves for each mode of transport. Masks must be worn and/or racers must maintain safe (greater than 6 ft) social distance until the race is underway.

CHECKPOINTS: There will be 1 or 2 race support personnel at each checkpoint who will maintain a spreadsheet with in/out times and communicate with the start/finish.  Water and beverages will be available for racers to fill their own water bottles. Limited pre-packaged snacks will also be available. Sanitizing supplies will be available at all checkpoints and checkpoint volunteers will sanitize water dispensers between racers to the extent possible without causing delays between racers.

FINISH: Racers and spectators are encouraged to not crowd the finish area. Spectators must wear masks and/or maintain appropriate social distance. Water will be available at the finish along with limited pre-packaged snacks. There will not be a post-race gathering. 

It’s cool to be safe! The best way to enforce these guidelines is through peer pressure.  Set an example for your fellow racers. Our volunteers are not enforcers but, if you are not complying with the guidelines, you will politely be asked to do so. Please be respectful when giving or receiving such requests. Race directors reserve the right to disqualify anyone who is not adhering to these guidelines.
